Jamie
Norris

PhD Student AI-enabled Healthcare Systems

Jamie is pursuing a PhD at the UCL CDT for AI-Enabled Healthcare Systems and the Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging. His focus is on utilising interictal brain activity to model epileptic brain states using a combination of machine learning and network neuroscience tools. His longer-term aim is to use these methods to guide single pulse electrical stimulation in patients undergoing pre-surgical evaluation for drug-resistant epilepsy. He hopes that this will lead to better delineation of the epileptogenic zone and improved surgical outcomes. Jamie is interested in a range of machine learning applications, particularly in healthcare, and previously worked as a Computer Vision Engineer.

Ulrich Stoof

PhD Student Comp. Neurosci.

Ulrich is pursuing a PhD in computational neuroscience at UCL’s Queens Square Institute of Neurology and Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging. His primary focus is to develop biophysical models which establish causal relationships between neuronal cell and network pathologies, for example observable in focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) and tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), and electrophysiological signatures. The longer-term aim is to incorporate these findings into clinical applications and help to define patient-specific interventions. More generally, Ulrich is interested in translational neuroscience research, particularly in the medical and educational domains.

Yutong
Yao

PhD Student

Yutong is pursuing a PhD in computational neuroscience at the University College London-Queen Square Institute of Neurology. His research is primarily focused on studying the neurovascular coupling in patients with epilepsy. He employs various brain imaging techniques to investigate the causal relationship between various pathological features of epileptic networks, such as pathology observed in intracranial electroencephalography (icEEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and the structural and functional characteristics of the brain. His research aims to ultimately identify candidates for future translation into clinical hardware and software applications that may benefit patient care. Yutong is also broadly interested in brain imaging, particularly in medicine.
